Guide · Commercial CCTV
How much does commercial CCTV installation cost?
The price of a business CCTV system depends on what you need it to see, how far the cabling runs and how long you keep the footage. Here is what drives the cost, so you can compare quotes like for like.

Typical costs
Price ranges for common systems.
Every system is quoted after a site survey.
| System | What it covers | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| Small office or shop | 4–6 cameras, recorder, remote viewing | Quoted after survey |
| Yard, warehouse or multi-building site | 8–16 cameras, network cabling, longer retention | From £20,000 |
| Specialist | Thermal, radar or ANPR cameras, analytics, access control integration | Quoted after survey |
What drives the cost
Six things that change the price.
- Number and type of cameras: fixed, PTZ, thermal or radar detection.
- Cabling: distance, building fabric and whether external runs or ducting are needed.
- Recording and retention: how many days of footage you keep, and at what quality.
- Remote viewing and alerts: apps, cloud access and analytics that cut false alarms.
- Integration with access control, intercoms and audio announcements.
- Maintenance: cleaning, firmware updates and health checks after installation.
Before you buy
Questions to ask every installer.
- Which camera brand, and who supports it in the UK?
- Who maintains the firmware and the recorder after installation?
- Is the system on your business network, and who secures it?
- How long is footage kept, and how is it exported for police or insurers?
- Does the design follow UK GDPR and ICO guidance for CCTV, including signage?
Because the same PC1 team runs IT and cyber security, the cameras and recorders we install are patched and monitored like any other device on your network. See Axis CCTV and access control.
