Eighteen years of IT, CCTV and web
WDL Concrete makes concrete products in Aberdare. Since 2008 we have run their cameras, network, IT, backups and websites, and upgraded each as the business has grown.

Axis cameras across the site
of disaster recovery data kept off-site
eighteen years with PC1
The challenge
A growing site that outgrew its first systems.
The CCTV system we installed in 2008 had grown to more than 30 cameras, and by 2024 some of the older units were due for replacement. WDL also wanted cameras that could watch production, not just security, and serve several users at once.
Across the site they needed fibre between buildings, separate networks for staff, guests and plant, and WiFi in areas with no mobile signal, all while keeping data secure, backed up off-site and available to remote workers.
What we did
What we put in place.
CCTV upgrade
New Axis cameras, including the P1388-LE, with views of production lines and Lightfinder 2 for low-light curing rooms. Access is tied to Active Directory roles.
Site network
Fibre between buildings, VLANs for users, guests and plant systems, and Juniper firewalls on the leased line.
WiFi with WiFi calling
Coverage across the site, so phones work where there is no mobile signal.
Managed IT
Patching for servers, PCs and laptops, antivirus and EDR, off-site disaster recovery and cloud backups for remote laptops.
Websites
We build, host and patch the websites for WDL and its subsidiaries in a secure data centre.
The outcome
What changed.
Cameras that help make concrete
Real-time views of production, even in low light, as well as site security.
The right people see the right cameras
Active Directory integration gives granular access control.
A reliable network
Fibre and VLANs keep plant, staff and guests separate, and WiFi calling fixed the signal problem.
IT handled, staff freed up
Full management frees WDL’s own people, and remote workers are covered by cloud backups.
