Access control · Door entry · Video intercoms
Access control that ends the day someone leaves.
Axis door controllers, readers and video intercoms, linked to your staff accounts so access follows your staff list. Installed and supported by the team that already runs your IT and network.
- 1–8doors per Axis network door controller
- 250,000credentials each controller can hold
- 10,000cardholders in AXIS Camera Station Pro
What we install
Doors, gates and intercoms on one system.
- Axis network door controllers for one to eight doors each, with enclosure kits for four and eight doors that include a battery-backed power supply.
- Card, fob, PIN, QR code, phone and number plate credentials.
- Video intercoms with a built-in card reader, so staff and visitors use the same door.
- QR codes emailed to visitors and contractors that only work for a set date and time.
- Video and access control in one system with AXIS Camera Station Secure Entry, so each door event comes with its footage.
For car parks and gates, add ANPR so the number plate becomes the key.
Cards and cabling
Why the card and the cable matter.
Older 125 kHz proximity cards can be copied with inexpensive equipment, and older Wiegand reader wiring sends card numbers unencrypted. Axis cards and fobs use MIFARE DESFire EV3, an encrypted card type, and Axis readers support OSDP Secure Channel, which encrypts the link between reader and controller. Phones can be credentials too, by Bluetooth or QR code.
Why Axis
What to ask before you buy a cheaper door entry system.
| Ask | Why it matters | With Axis and PC1 |
|---|---|---|
| Is it linked to our staff accounts? | Separate card lists drift out of date, and leavers keep access. | We link doors to your user directory, so access follows your staff list. |
| How hard are the cards to copy? | Older proximity cards can be cloned. | Encrypted MIFARE DESFire EV3 cards and fobs, plus phone credentials. |
| Is the controller itself secure? | A door controller holds every credential on site. | Each Axis controller keeps its keys in a hardware secure element (Axis Edge Vault). |
| Can you see who went through? | A log without video is hard to act on. | AXIS Camera Station shows the footage with each door event. |
| Does each door keep its own records? | Doors shouldn’t depend on one central box. | Each controller holds up to 250,000 credentials and 250,000 events. |
Secure by design
Part of your network, so part of your security.
Door controllers, readers and intercoms are networked computers. We put them on their own network segment, keep their firmware up to date with the rest of your IT and include them in your cyber security. See cyber-secure CCTV for what Axis builds in.
Example
Doors that follow Active Directory.
At WDL Concrete in Aberdare, access is tied to Active Directory roles, on the same network as more than 30 Axis cameras.
