Vape detectors · Vape sensors · Air quality
Vape detectors that alert staff without a camera in the room.
Axis environmental sensors detect vaping and smoking and measure air quality in places cameras can’t go, such as toilets and changing rooms. They raise an alert the moment they detect it, and we connect that alert to the people and systems that need it.
- No camerano video and no recorded audio in the room
- 9air readings, from CO₂ and particulates to humidity
- PoEone network cable for power and data
What it detects
Vaping, smoking and the air itself.
- Vaping and smoking, in toilets, changing rooms, stairwells and anywhere else cameras aren’t appropriate.
- Air quality: temperature, humidity, particulates, CO₂, volatile organic compounds and nitrogen oxides, plus an air quality index.
- On the AXIS D6310, sounds such as shouting or breaking glass, through Axis audio analytics, which doesn’t record or send the audio itself.
- A microphone with a physical on/off switch, so audio detection can be turned off completely.
Networked, not standalone
Why a networked sensor beats a beeping alarm.
A standalone vape alarm can only sound where it is, often to an empty room. A networked Axis sensor sends the alert to staff, logs every event with a time, and can trigger other Axis devices, such as a strobe or a recording on a camera in the corridor outside.
The same sensors report air quality. CO₂ readings show when a classroom or office needs ventilating, and AXIS Data Insights can chart readings across a site (licensed per device).
Why Axis
What to ask before you buy a cheaper vape detector.
| Ask | Why it matters | With Axis |
|---|---|---|
| Who hears the alarm? | A local beep can be ignored, or heard by nobody. | Alerts go over the network to the people and systems you choose. |
| Does it record anything? | Toilets and changing rooms are private spaces. | No camera, no recorded audio, and a physical switch for the microphone. |
| What else does it measure? | One device can do two jobs. | Nine air readings, including CO₂ for ventilation. |
| How is it powered and kept up to date? | Battery units need checking, and networked units need patching. | Power over the network cable, with updates handled by our IT team like any other device. |
Like every networked device, the sensors sit on a separate network segment and get the same updates as the rest of your IT. See cyber-secure CCTV.
How it works
From survey to alerts on the right phones.
- 01
Survey
We look at the rooms, ceilings and network points, and agree who should get each alert.
- 02
Design
Sensor positions, alert rules and network design, with a fixed price.
- 03
Install
Sensors and cabling installed, and alerts tested, by our own engineers.
- 04
Support
Updates, alert changes and support from the same team afterwards.
Vape detectors questions
What people ask before switching.
Do vape detectors use cameras?
Do they detect cigarette smoke too?
Who gets the alert?
Can they monitor air quality in classrooms?
