Case study · Cyber Security
Managed IT and SOC for 200+ devices
Ledwood works for tier-one clients in energy, petrochemicals and process industries. We replaced end-of-life systems and put a 24/7 Security Operations Centre around 200+ devices.

The challenge
Ageing systems in a supply chain attackers target.
Many of Ledwood’s servers and systems were close to end of life. Small businesses in the supply chain of large energy clients are frequent targets for cyber attacks, so the legacy and in-house setups needed auditing and modernising.
Their own IT team needed better tools for monitoring and support, and the business needed proper disaster recovery to keep working through an incident.
What we did
What we put in place.
New infrastructure
Two new domain controllers with a five-year onsite fast-response agreement, and a secure migration of data.
Disaster recovery with failover
Restore files, or start virtual servers on-premise or in the cloud.
Monitoring and support tools
Real-time monitoring of 200+ devices, one dashboard, automated patching and a ticketing system that escalates to PC1.
24/7 SOC and EDR
Endpoint detection and response on every device, with a managed SOC watching networks, logins and firewalls and able to isolate a device instantly.
Email security and training
Stronger email protection, phishing simulations and staff training.
Backup and compliance
Microsoft 365 backup for SharePoint and OneDrive, regular penetration testing and Cyber Essentials certification.
The outcome
What changed.
Business continuity
Faster recovery from incidents, with less downtime and data loss.
Round-the-clock protection
The SOC and EDR spot and deal with anomalies before they become incidents.
A stronger in-house team
Ledwood’s IT staff have proper tools for monitoring, patching and tickets, backed by PC1.
Staff who spot phishing
Training and simulations reduce the risk of social engineering.
